CONCENTRICALLY BRACED FRAME WITH MODERATE DUCTILITY LEVEL

The rules to be applied in the dimensioning of central these concentrically braced steel frames with limited moderate ductility level are given below.:

9.7.1. General Conditions

9.7.1.1 - In beams, columns and crosses of steel frames with limited ductility level, head width / thickness , body height / thickness and diameter / thickness ratio shall not exceed λ md limit values given in Table 9.3 The width-to-thickness ratios of elements should not exceed the limiting width-to-thickness ratios, λmd, from Table 9.3, for members designed as moderately ductile members.

9.7.2. Structural System Analysis

The strengths strength required in dimensioning to dimension the columns, beams and joints connections of the central concentrically braced steel frame systems system with limited moderate ductility level shall be determined by taking into account the load combinations including the strength excess coefficient earthquake effects with overstrength factor D as defined in 9.2.6 and the earthquake effect amplified by D.

Braces

Braces with moderate ductility level shall be dimensioned to meet comply with the following conditions. requirements:

9.7.3.1 - The slenderness ratio of the cross members ( rod effective buckling length / radius of inertia) shall not exceed the limit value KL i / gyration) in brace members must comply with condition KL / i ≤ 200. However, if V-braced or inverted V shaped cross patterns -braced systems are used, the requirement for slenderness ratio will be met.

9.7.3.2 - In steel Concentrically braced frames with central braces of limited moderate ductility level , it may be are permitted to use multi-piece elements, built-up members provided that the parts forming assembled the cross-section of the cross members brace behave as one piecesingle element. This requirement should be met by tie plates placed equally spaced in multibuilt-piece bars up members with a distance between the elements equal to the thickness of a bond the connecting plate , and in other cases by mesh connections (mesh elements)truss connection. Section 8.4 of the "Regulation on Design, Calculation and Construction Principles of Steel Structures" shall be based on the design of the interconnecting connector elements of multibuilt-piece crossesup braces.

9.7.3.3 - Braces shall be dimensioned considering by taking into account the load combinations including the earthquake effect given in 9.2.5.
