This joint is an intersecting beam-beam joint. It can be applied to one piece main beam and two piece beam joints.

  • From the Steel menu click on the line Continuous Beam Combination.

  • Click the main beam, then the beam, in the 3D perspective view.

  • The combination will occur with default settings.

  • Double-click the combination to change settings.

  • The unification dialog will open.

Title Link Type Tab

In this tab, it is determined whether the beam upper head plate will be, welded or bolted. Check the relevant option.

Sheets Tab

Give the sheet thickness and length.

Slip Type Tab

Select options based on the schematic figure given. After the selection process, you can instantly view the changes in the 3D view.

Slip Sheet Tab

Give the slab dimensions according to the given schematic figure.

Left and Right Top Notching Tab

Select options and enter values according to the given schematic figure.

Resources Tab

The source properties of the joints given in the schematic representation are set in the Resources tab. Give the thickness, type, angle values and mark the option whether to weld under construction site conditions.

Welding geometry is determined automatically by the program. These properties can be changed to easily determine the joint properties. Geometry features are in accordance with industry standards and in the form specified in AISC.

Welding Electrode:

In this section, the strengths of the welding electrodes are defined.

Top Left Header Bolts Tab

Determine the number of bolts and the distances between bolts according to the schematic representation given.

Bolt properties: Bolt class, bolt diameter and hole properties are set in bolt properties.

Top Right Header Bolts Tab

Determine the number of bolts and the distances between bolts according to the schematic representation given.

Bolt properties: Bolt class, bolt diameter and hole properties are set in bolt properties.

Left Bottom Header Bolts Tab

Determine the number of bolts and the distances between bolts according to the schematic representation given.

Bolt properties: Bolt class, bolt diameter and hole properties are set in bolt properties.

Bottom Right Header Bolts Tab

Determine the number of bolts and the distances between bolts according to the schematic representation given.

Bolt properties: Bolt class, bolt diameter and hole properties are set in bolt properties.

Mounting Plate Tab

The geometry of the plate used is given or one of the L profiles in the library can be used as a connection element with the Use Section option. If you check the plate geometry option, enter the plate dimensions according to the schematic representation.
