How to define ideCAD load combinations, according to ASCE 7-16, for two earthquake directions?

  • Load combinations for strength design are applied automatically according to reinforced concrete, stuctural steel and seismic regulations.

  • According to ASCE 7-16 Section 2.3 and 2.4, load combinations with earthquake effects are automatically generated.

Symbols

D = Dead load
Em = Combined applied design force on the horizontal and vertical seismic load effects
Emh= The effect of horizontal seismic forces, including overstrength
L = Live load
Lr = roof live load
S = snow load
W = Wind load
Eh = Horizontal seismic load effect
Ev = Vertical seismic load effect

Different loading combinations should be used according to the method used in steel structural design. Loading combinations are arranged automatically according to the selected steel structures regulation and the method belonging to this regulation. The edited combinations are given under three headings: reinforced concrete, steel, and user-defined under the subtitle of building tree loading combinations in the interface. All combinations used for reinforced concrete, steel, and base pressure control are given in the subtitle of select report loading situations and loading combinations.
