The cross sections used in the columns and beams forming the moment transfer frames must not undergo local buckling and must be compact enough to provide certain ductility capacity. If the ductility level is limited, therefore, the limit values are higher.
Local buckling should not occur in order for the horizontal load-bearing system elements to make sufficient plastic deformation. The conditions in Table 9.3 must therefore be observed.
