My materials have disappeared on the perspective screen, what should I do?

The materials disappear in the perspective screen as a result of two situations and appear white.

Case 1: The project has been moved to another computer. The textures of the materials used in the project appear white because the computer has not these textures.

When you move your project to another computer, you will be able to take your textures with your project file and you will not experience material losses. With the Pack Used Texture, you can collect the textures in your material list in another folder. For this;

  • Click on the Settings/Materials line in the classic menu and the Rendering/Render/Materials icon in the ribbon menu .

  • In the Material List dialog that opens, click the Pack Used Textures button.

  • In the window that opens, select the folder where you want to collect the textures.

  • When you click the OK button, the program will start to create a copy of the textures in your material list in the folder you have selected.

  • When all textures are duplicated, the warning "Operation complete" will be displayed.

When you open your project on the computer you are carrying, your materials will continue to appear white. The new location of your texture files needs to be introduced to the program. For this;

  • Open the Material List , some items in the list will not appear.

  • Select an item from it and click the Edit button.

  • Click the Select button of the Texture row in the Material Editor dialog General tab (A white rectangle will appear because your texture is not visible).

  • In the Textures dialog that opens , click the Folder section and select the Browse row.

  • Select the folder where you package the textures and click the Select folder button.

  • In the Textures dialog, all the textures you use in your project will appear and it will automatically select the texture of the material you have selected.

  • Close all dialogs by clicking the OK button.

  • Your materials will also appear when you return to the item list dialog.

  • When you close this dialog and switch to the perspective screen, you will see your model with its materials.

Case 2: The texture files of the materials you used in your project have been moved to a different folder.

When you move the texture file you used while creating your material to a different folder, the program will not appear. Your material will appear again when you introduce the location of your file to the program.

For this;

  • In the perspective screen, move your mouse over an object where your lost material is defined and click the right mouse button.

  • The Material Editor dialog for your item will open.

  • Click the Select button of the Texture row in the General tab (a white rectangle will appear because your texture is not visible).

  • In the Textures dialog that opens , click the Folder section and select the Browse row.

  • Select the folder where your texture is located and click the Select folder button.

  • All textures in the folder you selected will appear in the textures dialog. It will automatically select the texture of your material.

  • Close all dialogs by clicking the OK button.

  • When you close the material editor dialog and switch to the perspective screen, your material will appear.
