Cross sections used in columns, beams and braces that form central braced frames should not undergo local buckling and should be compact enough to provide certain ductility capacity.
Local buckling should not occur in order for the horizontal load-bearing system elements to make sufficient plastic deformation. The conditions in Table 9.3 must therefore be observed.
