In accordance with the EN 1993-1-1 bearing strength method, the load applied to the structure should not exceed the strength of the structure. EN 1993-1-1 accepts that different load combinations have different probabilities of occurrence and different degrees of variability. Load combinations according to Eurocode 3 are given below.

  • Dead Load Situation: 1.35G

  • Dead and Live Load Situation: 1.35G + 1.5Q

  • Dead and Wind Load Situation: 1.35G ± 1.5W

  • Dead and Wind Load Situation: 1.00G ± 1.5W

  • Dead, Wind, and Live Load Situation: 1.35G +1.35Q ± 1.5W

  • Earthquake Load Situation: 1.00G ± 1.00AEd

  • Dead, Live Load, and Earthquake Situation: 1.00G ± 1.0×0.3Q ± 1.00AEd

Structural Safety

It assumes that there can be situations and probabilities in which the loads can be greater than the expected value. For this reason, different coefficients and load combinations are determined for different loads.
