Concentrically Braced Frames Design is explained in detail under this title.

Definitions

  • Structural elements such as braces, truss members and columns; If it carries the axial tensile force, it is called a tension member and is designed as a tension member.

  • Structural elements such as braces, truss members and columns; If it carries the axial compressive force, it is called a compression member and is designed as a compression member.

Tensile Design

  • Elements under the effect of axial tensile force are simple elements in terms of design, and since they are under the effect of uniform axial force, they act in accordance with the stress-strain curve obtained in tensile tests.

Design of Compression Elements

  • There are 2 main types of buckling, local and global buckling, in the elements under the axial compression force.

  • Global buckling is divided into 3 categories: Flexural Buckling, Torsional Buckling and Flexural Torsional Buckling.
