The braced frame design is explained in detail under this title.
Definitions
Tension members are structural elements that are subjected to axial tension. Tension members may consist of braces or truss members.
Tension members are structural elements that are subjected to axial compression. Compression members may consist of braces, truss members, and columns.
Design of Tension Members
Elements subjected to axial tensile force are simple elements in terms of design. Since they are under uniform axial tensile force, they act by the stress-strain curve obtained in tensile tests.
Design of Compression Members
There are two main types of buckling, local and global buckling, in the elements under the axial compression force.
Global buckling is divided into three categories: Flexural Buckling, Torsional Buckling, and Flexural Torsional Buckling.
