  • After the employee performance of existing buildings is determined automatically, the earthquake performance level of the building is determined automatically.

15.8.2 When linear calculation method or nonlinear calculation method is used in determining the earthquake performance of existing buildings with the Assessment and Design Based on Shape Change (ŞGDT) approach, 15.8.2 determined according to .

In order for the existing reinforced concrete buildings to be at the Controlled Damage (SH) performance level, all of the following conditions must be met.

  • As a result of the calculations made for the earthquake direction applied on any floor of the existing reinforced concrete buildings, maximum 35% of the beams can pass into the Advanced Damage (IH) zone.

  • The total contribution of the vertical elements in the Forward Damage Zone to the shear force carried by all vertical elements for the applied earthquake direction in any floor of existing reinforced concrete buildings should be below 20%. In other words , the shear force of vertical elements in the Advanced Damage Zone in any floor should be less than 20% of the shear force of all vertical elements.

  • In the top floor of existing reinforced concrete buildings, the ratio of the total shear force of vertical elements in the Forward Damage Zone to the total shear forces of all vertical elements on that floor for the applied earthquake direction should be less than 40%.

  • All carrier elements other than the items above must be in the Restricted Damage Zone or Significant Damage Zone.

  • The ratio of the shear forces carried by the vertical elements of which the Distinct Damage Limit is exceeded in both of the lower and upper sections of any floor to the shear force carried by all the vertical elements in that floor should not exceed 30% (In the calculation with the linear method, Equal Columns where (7.3) is provided are not included in this calculation).

  • Elements that are damaged in brittle must be strengthened.

If the above conditions are met, the building Controlled Damage (KH) is accepted and reported at the performance level.
