  • In the dimensioning of steel frame columns with high ductility level, two different calculations are made and the unfavorable result is used in the design.

    (a)    Shear force, axial force and bending moments obtained from the analysis by considering the loading combinations in accordance with the earthquake code and the steel structures code.

    (b)  Axial tensile and compressive forces obtained by increasing D, the coefficient of excess strength , regardless of bending moments

  • Steel beams are designed according to the internal forces obtained as a result of the modal analysis.
