Drift and Deformation

  • For any column or wall in the earthquake direction, storey drifts expressing the displacement difference between two floors, is automatically in accordance with Codes.

International Design Codes

ASCE 7-16 : Determination and Limitation of Story Drifts per ASCE 7-16 §12.12

TSC 2018 : Limits of Story Dritfs

Story drift: The horizontal deflection at the top of the story relative to the bottom of the story. If Story Drift is divided by the story height, the Story Drift Ratio is obtained.

The Story drifts obtained as a result of seismic analysis are limited by the Seismic Design Codes. Building importance factor and Response modification coefficients are also used in determining story drifts.
