The slenderness ratio ( effective buckling length / radius of gyration) in brace members with high ductility level must comply with condition KL / i ≤ 200. In concentrically braced frames, this condition must be met under the compression or tensile forces of the brace section in order to plasticize the structure by absorbing energy.
