Information Level and Current Material Strength

Information level coefficients are used to calculate concrete element capacities in the performance analysis of existing buildings. Knowledge levels are classified as limited knowledge level and comprehensive knowledge level. The existing material strengths are multiplied by the information level coefficients and the element capacities are calculated using the moment-curvature calculation.

15.2.2. Knowledge Levels

According to the scope of baseline information to be obtained from the examination of buildings, the level of information for each building type and accordingly 15.2.12 the information level coefficients specified in will be defined. Knowledge levels will be classified as limited and comprehensive, respectively. The knowledge levels obtained will be used in the calculation of carrier element capacities.

15.2.2.1 - In the limited information level, the properties of the carrier system are determined by measurements to be made in the building. Limited knowledge level will only be applied for Other Buildings (BKS = 3) defined in Table 3.1.

15.2.2.2 - More measurements are made in the comprehensive knowledge level than in the limited knowledge level.

15.2.3. Available Material Strength

The material strengths to be used in calculating the capacities of the carrier elements are defined as the material strength available in this section of the Regulation .

15.2.12. Knowledge Level Coefficients

(a) The Knowledge Level Coefficients to be applied to the staff capacities according to the knowledge level obtained from the buildings examined are given in Table 15.1 .

(b) Unless specifically stated, material strengths shall not be divided by the material coefficients given in the relevant design regulations. Existing material strengths will be used in the calculation of element capacities .
