US Materials per AISC 341-16 §A.3

How does ideCAD define expected material strength according to AISC 341-16?

The required strength of an element is automatically obtained by ideCAD Structural according to Table A3.1.

Symbols

Fy = Specified minimum yield stress
Fu = Specified minimum tensile strength
Ry = Ratio of the expected yield stress to the specified minimum yield stress, Fy
Rt = Ratio of the expected tensile strength to the specified minimum tensile strength, Fu

Expected Material Strength

According to AISC 341-16, to determine the nominal strength, Rn, for limit states within a member or a connection of a member from which the required strength is determined, the expected yield stress, RyFy, and the expected tensile strength, RtFu, are permitted to be used in lieu of Fy and Fu, respectively.
