Structural Materials

Concrete and reinforcement, and steel classes can be defined with the New Material or Add New Material command.

It can also be defined and changed in the Materials line under the Structure Tree .

Usage Steps

  • Click the New Material command.

  • The structural material properties dialog will open.

  • Select Concrete , Steel, or Other from the material type list .

  • According to your selection, values specific to your selection will be listed in the dialog.

  • You can change the values if necessary. However, in normal cases, the program will automatically display the appropriate values according to the selected material type.

  • Click the OK button to exit the dialog.

Identification of Concrete Material

  • Select Concrete as the material type .

  • Select the concrete class from the list in the characteristic concrete compressive strength line.

  • If a different strength from the list is to be used, click the Convert to custom material button.

  • You can write the strength value yourself as MPa. (28 MPa is written in the sample screenshot.)

  • Select the reinforcement class for bending reinforcement from the list in the bending reinforcement yield strength line.

  • If a different strength from the list is to be used, you can write the strength value yourself as MPa. (425 MPa is written in the sample screenshot.)

  • You can also make a selection in the stirrup yield strength line for transverse reinforcement.

Identification of Steel Material

  • Select Steel as the material type .

  • Select the steel grade from the list in the steel yield strength (Fy) line.

  • If a different strength from the list is to be used, click the Convert to custom material button. Then you can write the strength value yourself as MPa.
