TS500 - Column Transverse Reinforcement Conditions

  • The stirrup intervals, wedge and longitudinal reinforcement conditions specified in TS500 7.4.1 are applied automatically.

The column longitudinal reinforcement is wrapped with transverse reinforcement along the column height. The transverse reinforcement bar diameter cannot be less than one third of the largest longitudinal bar diameter. Transverse reinforcement spacing cannot be more than 12 times the smallest longitudinal bar diameter and 200 mm. In rectangular columns, the distance between longitudinal reinforcement bars held with stirrups or crossties in the same interval cannot be more than 300 mm.
