Column Axial Force Control Example

In the loading column of the report, the combination of the maximum axial force (Ndm) calculated under the effect of vertical loads and earthquake and the maximum axial force calculated under increased vertical loads (Nd) is given. The extreme forces of these combinations can be seen in the reinforced concrete dialog.

Column dimensions 30 x 60,

Ndm = 32.4 tf Combination = G '+ Q'-Ey-0.3Ex + 0.3Ez'

Nd = 26.14 tf Combination = 1.4G + 1.6Q

fck= 3059.149 tf/m2

fcd = 2039.432 tf/m2

0.40*Ac*fck = 0.40 * 3059.149 * 0.3*0.60 = 220.16 tf

The condition is fulfilled since Ndm = 32.48 < 220.16 tf .

0.9 * Ac * fcd = 0.9 * 2039.432 * 0.3 * 0.6 = 330.39 tf

Since Nd = 26.14 <330.39 tf , the condition is fulfilled.
