Irregularitiy Types A2 and A3 (4.5.6.2)

  • Selection of A2-A3 type irregularity is made by the user.

  • In buildings with A2-A3 type irregularities, story slabs are automatically modeled with two-dimensional plate (membrane) or shell finite elements to show that they can safely transfer earthquake forces between vertical structural system elements in their own planes (See 4.5.6.2 ).

In buildings with A2 and A3 type irregularities , including the presence of gaps in the floors or protrusions in the plan, and in buildings with cork (without beams) flooring, it is obligatory to analyze the floors with the shell model in accordance with the finite element method. If the analysis settings wizard is used, semi-rigid diaphragm selection is applied automatically for buildings with beamless floors.
