Strip Foundation Parameters

Strip Foundation Parameters

With the Strip Foundation Parameters command, the design parameters used in the Concrete Strip Foundation Design are determined. Concrete cover, maximum and minimum stirrup interval, foot reinforcement percentage etc. parameters are determined from the strip foundation parameters window.

Location of Strip Foundation Parameters Dialog

Ribbon menu Analysis and Design tab Design Parameters title under strip foundation parameters by clicking on the command Strip Foundation Parameters can be found in the dialogue.

Strip Foundation Parameters

It determines with parameters which criteria the program will comply with in concrete design and rebar placement stage.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Parameters with the ( % ) sign mean the percentage expression of the rebar ratio. It is the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the reinforced concrete element to the rebar area expressed as a percentage.

For example, when a “1” is written to the minimum percentage parameter, the rebar percentage is considered 1%. Since the percentage equivalent of a 0.01 rebar ratio is 1%, it is appropriate to write “1” to this parameter.

Specifications

Specifications

Concrete cover

It is the distance from the center of gravity of the rebar inside the foundation beam to the outer face of the concrete.

Min. tensile percentage

The rebar percentage determines the minimum value of the rebar to be placed in the tension zone in the foundation beam. The percentage value of the gross area of the foundation specified in this parameter determines the minimum rebar area. This parameter is used at the bottom of the foundation beam span and at the top of the foundation beam support. The minimum rebar area of the concrete element means that the gross section will not be less than the percentage value entered with this parameter. In addition, the control is made so that the minimum draw ratio is greater than 0.8 fctd / fyd.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Min. stirrup interval

In the program, the spacing of the stirrup to be placed on the foundation beam is selected not less than the value specified in this parameter.

Max. stirrup interval

In the program, the spacing of the stirrup to be placed on the foundation beam is selected so that it is not more than the value specified in this parameter.

Min. B for double stirrups

The width of the foundation beam is compared with this parameter. As long as the width does not exceed the minimum width specified in this parameter, the foundation beam is equipped with a double arm stirrup. Otherwise, a stirrup with double arms is opened every 40 cm.

Foot min. reinforcement ratio

The rebar percentage determines the minimum value of the rebar to be placed in the ampatement in strip foundations. The percentage value of the gross area of the ampatement specified in this parameter determines the minimum rebar area. The minimum rebar area of the concrete element means that the gross section will not be less than the percentage value entered with this parameter. Ampatement rebar can never be less than the limit specified with this parameter. The minimum rebar is compared with the calculation rebar found from the ampatement moment.

Foot min. reinforcement interval

In the program, the spacing of the rebar to be placed in the foot on a strip foundation is chosen not to be less than the value specified in this parameter.

Foot max. reinforcement interval

In the program, the spacing of the rebar to be put into the foot on a strip foundation is selected not to be more than the value specified in this parameter.

Min. H for body reinforcement

If the height of the foundation beam is higher than the value specified in this parameter, the body rebar is placed on the foundation beam.

Max. mounting + straight interval

The beam width is divided by the value written in this line and the minimum number of assembly or flat rebar to be placed on the beam is determined according to this value.

Stirrup densification

If it is marked, the stirrup densification is made in a gap equal to half of the stirrup gap placed in the opening in the support area on a strip foundation. If it is not marked, the stirrup is placed on the strip foundation support at the same distance as the opening.

Use seismic loads in analysis

In the foundation calculation, in addition to the column effects caused by vertical (fixed and mobile) loading from the superstructure, the column effects due to seismic loads are also taken into account and the foundation calculations are made according to the most negative combination. If not checked, only column moments from vertical loading are taken into account.

Use minimum span moment as ql2/12

If this option is selected, the opening moment in strip foundations is assumed to be at least the moment until the span = q * l * l / 12. The rebar design is made according to this moment. If the opening moment calculated from the calculation is greater than q * l * l / 12, the opening moment calculated from the calculation is used in the design of the rebar.

l = Strip foundation clean span
q = Strip foundation load calculated from soil bearing capacity

Distribution equipment

The diameter of the distribution rebar to be used is specified.

Maximum interval

In the program, the range of the distribution (distribution) equipment to be placed on the foot of the foundation is selected so that it is not more than the value specified in this parameter.
