Raft Foundation Parameters

With the Raft Foundation Parameters command, the design parameters used in the Concrete Raft Foundation Design are determined. Concrete cover, maximum and minimum reinforcement interval, etc. parameters are determined from the raft foundation parameters window.

Location of Raft Foundation Parameters Dialog

Ribbon menu Analysis and Design tab Design Parameters title under raft foundation parameters by clicking on the command Raft Foundation Parameters can be found in the dialogue.

Raft Foundation Parameters

It determines with parameters which criteria the program will comply with in concrete design and rebar placement stage.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Parameters with the ( % ) sign mean the percentage expression of the rebar ratio. It is the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the reinforced concrete element to the rebar area expressed as a percentage.

For example, when a “1” is written to the minimum percentage parameter, the rebar percentage is considered 1%. Since the percentage equivalent of a 0.01 rebar ratio is 1%, it is appropriate to write “1” to this parameter.

Specifications

Concrete cover

It is the distance from the center of gravity of the tensile rebar inside the raft slab to the outer face of the concrete.

Min. main tensile percentage

In raft foundation working in two directions, it is the tensile percentage in the short edge direction of the raft foundation. This parameter should be written as a percentage. In the raft foundation calculation axis span, the rebar area is calculated from the moment value found as a result of analysis + design. This area is also compared with the minimum rebar area calculated using the Minimum Tensile Percentage. The area that is larger is used.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Min. other tensile percentage

In raft foundation working in two directions, it is the tensile percentage in the long edge direction of the raft foundation. This parameter should be written as a percentage. In the raft foundation calculation axis span, the rebar area is calculated from the moment value found as a result of analysis + design. This area is also compared with the minimum rebar area calculated using the Minimum Other Tensile Percentage. The area that is larger is used.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Min. one-way percentage

In raft foundation where the long side is twice as long as the short side, it is the tensile percentage in the short edge direction. This parameter should be written as a percentage. In the raft foundation calculation axis span, the rebar area is calculated from the moment value found as a result of analysis + design. This area is also compared with the minimum rebar area calculated using the Minimum One-Way Percentage. The area that is larger is used.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Min. one-way other percentage

In raft foundation where the long side is twice as long as the short side, it is the tensile percentage in the long edge direction. This parameter should be written as a percentage. In the raft foundation calculation axis span, the rebar area is calculated from the moment value found as a result of analysis + design. This area is also compared with the minimum rebar area calculated using the Minimum One-Way Other Percentage. The area that is larger is used.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Min. reinforcement interval

This parameter is taken into account when selecting the rebar in raft foundations. If the distance between two rebars is less than the minimum rebar spacing, the rebar diameter is increased.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Max. reinforcement interval

The distance between two rebar cannot be more than the value entered in this parameter. The maximum range of rebar is used together with the x * d parameter.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Max. reinforcement interval x * d

The value entered in this parameter is multiplied by the thickness of the plate. The value found is the maximum rebar range and the distance between two rebars cannot be more than the value calculated from this parameter.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Min. reinforcement interval (Aux)

It is the parameter that limits the minimum distance between additional rebars in foundations. This parameter is taken into account when selecting additional rebar in foundations. If the distance between two additional rebars is less than the minimum rebar spacing, the rebar diameter is increased.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Max. reinforcement interval (Aux)

It is the parameter that limits the distance between two additional rebars in foundations. The distance between two additional rebar is not chosen more than the value written here. The maximum rebar spacing is compared with the parameter x * d and the smaller one is used.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Max. reinforcement interval (Aux) x * d

It is the parameter that limits the maximum distance between additional rebars in foundations. Plate thickness is diametered with the value entered in this parameter. The value found is the maximum rebar range and the distance between the two rebars is not chosen more than the value calculated from this parameter.

In parameters marked with ( * ), the text 0 “zero” means that the value specified in the design code is used.

Minimum extra rebar length

It is the parameter that determines the minimum length of additional rebar in raft foundation.

Extra rebar length rounding factor

The length of additional reinforcement in raft foundation is the parameter that determines the rounding coefficient.

Use multiple of 5 rebar intervals

If the option is selected, the program enables the selection of rebar spacing in multiples of 5 and 5. The option is not checked, the rebar range is put as much as required for the calculation.
