Coupled Wall Criteria (4.5.4.5)

Coupled Wall Criteria (4.5.4.5)

  • Whether it is suitable for bond degree coefficient and bond-beam wall definitions or not is calculated automatically with Equations 4.14 and 4.15 .

Symbols

c = The distance between the cross-section gravity centers of the tie beam (hollow) curtain parts
M DEV = The tipping moment caused by earthquake loads at the base of the reinforced concrete wall
M 1 = The bending moment at the base obtained from the earthquake effect in the curtain parts forming the curtain with tie beams
M 2 = The curtain forming the curtain with tie beams bending moment at the base due to the earthquake effect
N v =Equal tensile and compression axial forces at the base of the curtain parts as the sum of the shear forces formed in the tie beams of the tie beam curtain under the earthquake effect over the entire wall height
Ω = The bond degree coefficient in the bond beam wall

The bond degree coefficient calculated by Equation 4.14 must be greater than (1/3) in order to be able to accept a bond beam wall. This condition is automatically controlled. It should be aimed to be less than (2/3) and prevent the formation of excessive axial force in the curtain arms. This situation is a recommendation in accordance with the regulation, therefore the control belongs to the user.

If this condition is not fulfilled, a gapless curtain should be accepted and a modeling and carrier system type suitable for the curtain without gap should be selected. Control details are given on the earthquake regulation report coefficient coefficient page.
