Import IFC

With IFC file format, project information can be imported from other software to ideCAD with IFC (import) command.

Location of the Import IFC Command

You can access it from the menu under the ideCAD logo in the upper left corner of the screen in the ribbon menu.

Usage Steps

  • The ideCAD icon in the upper left corner of the program is clicked.

  • From the menu that opens, the Import/IFC line is clicked.

  • In the dialog that opens, the file type you want to record is selected on the right side of the File Name line.

  • Give a name to the File Name line and click the Save button.

Stories

Import Process

  • All stories are admitted with the same name and elevatiın information.

  • If there is an empty story at the top, this story is deleted.

  • Since the height information is not in IFC standard, the difference between stories is calculated and determined by ideCAD. Height information for the top story (not empty) is set as 3.3m by default.

Concrete Columns

Import Process

  • Whichever story is connected while being imported, it is also connected to that story on ideCAD side.

  • Regardless of how its location in space is defined in the IFC file, the story is relatively redefined by ideCAD.

  • The final coordinates are always guaranteed to be the same on both sides.

  • All concrete columns are produced as load bearing columns on ideCAD, regardless of their definition in the IFC file.

  • If the structural material information matches with ideCAD as text, it is assigned directly, if not, the default concrete structural material is assigned.

  • It is tried to be understood from the text information of the material defined in IFC that the column is a concrete element.

Concrete Beams

 Import Process

  • Whichever story is connected in the IFC file while being imported, it is assigned a lower story of that story by ideCAD.

  • Regardless of how its position in space is defined in the IFC file, the story is relatively redefined by ideCAD.

  • The beam position is re-determined according to the ceiling of the relevant story.

  • The final coordinates are always guaranteed to be the same on both sides.

  • If there is an empty story at the top, this story is automatically deleted.

  • All concrete beams are produced as load bearing beams on ideCAD, regardless of their definition in the IFC file.

  • If the structural material information matches with ideCAD as text, it is assigned directly, if not, the default concrete structural material is assigned.

  • It is tried to be understood from the text information of the material defined in IFC that the beam is a concrete element, if the expression is broken, it is accepted as a concrete element unless otherwise stated.

Concrete Slabs

Import Process

  • Whichever story is connected in the IFC file while being imported, it is assigned a lower story of that story by ideCAD.

  • Regardless of how its position in space is defined in the IFC file, the story is relatively redefined by ideCAD.

  • The slab position is re-determined according to the ceiling of the relevant story.

  • The final coordinates are always guaranteed to be the same on both sides.

  • If there is an empty story at the top, this story is automatically deleted.

  • Regardless of the definition in the IFC file, all concrete slabs are produced as load-bearing slab on the ideCAD side.

  • If the structural material information matches with ideCAD as text, it is assigned directly, if not, the default concrete structural material is assigned.
