Ribbed Slab Type Systems (4.3.4.3)

  • Ductility level transmit all torque earthquake effects limited to concrete
structural systems are covered by the frame ( Table 4.1 from A31 , B31 , C31 conveyor systems),
only the DTS = 3 and DTS = 4 as used in the building is controlled automatically.

  • Carrier systems consisting of filled (hollow blocks) or unfilled single-direction geared reinforced concrete frames will be classified as structural systems with limited ductility level if they do not contain curtain and their use in buildings with DTS = 3 and DTS = 4 is automatically controlled.

  • Such load-bearing systems are automatically controlled to be made as mixed systems of ductility level by arranging them together with reinforced concrete bond beam (hollow) and / or non-gap curtains or steel eccentric and / or central braced frames with high ductility level.

According to Article 4.3.4.3 of TBDY , load-bearing systems where all of the effects of earthquakes are met by moment transfer frames with limited ductility level will only be used in buildings with DTS = 3 and DTS = 4.

Ductility level illustrated above limited moment resisting reinforced concrete frames A31 and ductility limited moment resisting steel frames A31 conveyor and can be used only in buildings with DTS and DTS = 3 = 4.

The following picture shows the structural system selection of a reinforced concrete building with limited ductility level of DTS = 2 with the TBDY 2018 Wizard . Since frames with limited ductility level that transfer moment according to 4.3.4.3 should be used only in buildings with DTS = 3 and DTS = 4, it is not allowed to use reinforced concrete frame with limited ductility level in the building with DTS = 2.

According to Article 4.3.4.3 of TBDY , carrier systems consisting of hollow blocks or reinforced concrete frames with unidirectional threaded floor are classified as structural systems with limited ductility level if they do not contain walls and are used only in buildings with DTS = 3 and DTS = 4. Structural systems consisting of hollow blocks or reinforced concrete frames with unidirectional threaded floor can be used with reinforced concrete frames with limited ductility level , as well as curtains with high ductility level with or without voids. In this case, the ductility level can be designed as a mixed carrier system.

Using the TBDY 2018 Wizard below, the ductility level selection of a system with DTS = 2 and a hollow floor tile is shown. Since there is no building with DTS = 3 and DTS = 4 in TBDY Article 4.3.4.3 , ductility level cannot be used limited. Again, according to the same material, the ductility level cannot be chosen as high because it is a structure with a hollow floor. For this reason, the ductility level selection of a system with DTS = 2 and hollow blocks should be mixed, earthquake effects should be compensated by using moment transfer frames with limited ductility level and walls with high ductility level (with or without gaps).

Using the TBDY 2018 Wizard below, the ductility level selection of a system with DTS = 4 and a hollow floor tile can be seen. Since TBDY is a building with hollow blocks with DTS = 4 according to Article 4.3.4.3 , carrier systems with limited ductility level can be used. Since DTS = 4, carrier systems with high ductility level cannot be used.
